Ground Patrol Data Collection

The ground patrol project is another mobile mapping project hosted on the Collector platform. This project provides a means for fieldworkers to conduct ground line inspections of transmission assets and report their findings. Once they have captured data points for each asset, those points are sent up to the server, where managers and planners can export, manipulate, and ultimately derive work orders from the findings. Use this service for internal crews and contractors across the transmission enterprise.

The wildfire monitoring web mapping application allows users to assess wildfire risk to their assets. Contributing factors of wildfire risk such as wind directions, soil moisture, land cover types, areas with a history of significant fire activity, and remotely sensed hot spots are available data sets used to make critical business decisions. The web mapping application leverages various spatial and meteorological datasets enabling users to evaluate current wildfire threat levels and active fire data in relation to their assets. Additionally, spatial modeling is leveraged to create an alerting system for wildfire threat to assets.

Helicopter Damage Points, ESRI Explorer

Inspect aerial assets and collect data.

The Aerial Patrol project provides mobile data collection using ESRI’s Explorer platform.  Line workers and foresters use the ESRI Explorer platform for utility inspections to collect point data where defects on the transmission network are found while flying. Once the point data is collected using a mobile device in a helicopter, the findings are sent to our team for processing. We then use an automated process to tie that data to the structure it represents, and disseminate the reports to the appropriate personnel.
